Assignment 4: Understanding web marketing and devising a web marketing strategy

Market Analysis
Introduction

I have designed a website using www.ning.com, based on animals for animal lovers. I have designed a very basic website where users can add photos, use the forum for discussion purposes, create and join groups, i have also added some animal facts on the site which may be useful to users. The purpose of the wesite is for people from all over the world to come together in one social network.
At first i analysed similar websites which offer similar services to the one i produced. I analysed many different websites in many different aspects so that it would be clear to me what i needed to do and what a user would want from such a website.



The site i have created is www.zaineb.ning.com.When logging on to the Animal World website and having a look around i beleive the site wants its users to have a memorable visit, which will interest them to visit the site more often. It achieves this by using tremendous graphics relating to the restaurant and use of animation which makes it more attention seeking.

The sites manifest in its design is very fine as the site uses a combination of colours, but the significance of that is that it repeats on every page which makes all the pages look more efficient. So the visitor does not feel he/ she are visiting a different site when going back or forward on each page. So I consider that the overall site manifest is good with a good layout and a good colour scheme has been used.

The typical user for the site I consider would be people who adore animals, or would like to know certain facts about a particular animal and make friends with people who have the same intrests as them. I say this because Animal World is a site created for people with an intrest for animals.

Content

The websites ostensible purpose is very welcoming as it is clearly a social network for animal lovers and wants its users to enjoy their time when visiting the site. It has many different areas for example a forum, which i beleive is the main point of the website to socially interact with one another. Overall, the site makes everyone welcome.

The content organised and distributed across the page is very well as no space is left and no unnecessary text is used. The colour scheme as I mentioned before is well prepared. And the text across the whole web site on each page is similar and one font is used. The position of the Animal World logo is also the same throughout the pages. I believe this is done so that the visitor does not feel he/she is on a different site when going through pages.

I believe the navigation on the website is simple to use and you cannot get lost whilst on the site.

Interface

Over all I think that the web site can be improved in many different ways.
For example the material on the screen is visible and is clear but the thing is, is it all-relevant to the web site or not? Some things on the website is very useful and can help users with their search.
Firstly I would like to talk about the overall appearance of the Animal World website. It is important because this is how customers receive their first impression. Animal World is attractive and has good use of color and pictures. The home page contains many links to other pages of the wesite. The site contains google adds, but no annoying pop ups to distract viewers.
The Animal World website contains a significant amount of information without the user having to read much, such as pictures. This site has basic pictures. In my opinion, Animal World has a decent media content it can be improved by advertisement and have other online services.
In this website it has good use of colour and graphics. I think this site is quite different to other websites as it looks origional and i have created the background myself using a software called PixelMator, I also feel it is well organised and has good use of colours. The font is very basic and the images used in this website are well organised and to the point.

For the wesbsite I used the neon theme but i changed the background and a few of th font colours. I believe that there is a definable style and feel to the Animal World website as it is all the same but the information changes according to the visitors needs. The web site on a whole is very well engaged and organised.

The visual appearance on the screen supports the ostensible very well as the sites idea is to admire animals and it strictly sticks to its limitations.

Overall the experience of visiting the web.site is brilliant as it tells you a lot about animals and the pictures are great to look at, i beleive the colours and presentation makes the experience of visiting the website even better.

Functionality

The site offers a lot of interactivity, it does this by using forums and groups which allows users to interact with one another.

Overall I believe that the ostensible purpose of the site is quite obvious and is logical by any user that would visit the site. For starters anyone visiting the site would know it is a animal website and the bits of information related to the site are also related.
